Veterans Day 2010

Happy Veterans Day!

Thank you to all of our veterans past, present and future for all of your sacrifices in securing the freedoms and life that we enjoy today.

In other “news” today:

The girls didn’t have school today. I had hoped that we’d be able to get out of the house and go somewhere and do something, but, alas, they could not come up with something. At all. So, we stayed home. I never even stepped foot outside. I did, however, get the kitchen really clean. The only things I didn’t do were the floor (other than sweep) or clean the oven.

Ray asked who was coming over. As if. Like we know anyone who would (or could) come over or visit.

More Jazz…

Today I busted Phoebe out of school a little bit early. Mostly so that we could avoid all of the school traffic and congestion getting out of there and so that she wouldn’t forget to come out and go to homework club instead.

We were able to spend about 15 minutes at home (during which time, she spent about 8 minutes walking on the treadmill!) before leaving for the evening. The high school jazz bands were performing at a really neat venue in Seattle: The Triple Door.

It was really pretty awesome and a great experience for all of the kids (albeit: expensive in the end). Phoebe proclaimed it to be the most “awesome-est, boring-est thing ever!” Haha!

Highlights of (this) Monday

So, my alarms did not work correctly this morning. Why? Do you really want to know? Probably not, but I’ll tell: I have been using my iPhone for my wake up alarms (and various other alarms) and because of a stupid bug/glitch in the software, the alarms are suddenly all off by an hour after the time change. The system time is correct. The alarm time is correct, yet it still didn’t sound until and hour after it should have. Grrr. I know I’m not the only one, but it seems ridiculous that they didn’t put out a patch or some update to correct it when they KNEW this would happen.

Let’s not go into the whole slew of issues that the 3G faces after the update to OS4. The performance is so awful, that, honestly, I wish I had something other than an iPhone…which is sad considering how awesome it was and how much I loved it until that update.

Anyhow…

I happened to wake up and check the time about ten minutes after my alarm should have gone off. Alex was already up and just about ready to go–very fortunate for that as well.  Totally disastrous start to the day was averted. Barely.

It was dark by 5:00 p.m. this evening. I didn’t like that either.

I think I found the last of the Halloween paraphernalia and have it packed away… and this time I packed it for being moved too. Did you know that takes more bins when you do it for more than just taking to the attic to sit for a year? It’s true.

Tonight, Phoebe and I snuggled up in bed and watched Planet 51 (again). It was truly the wonderful highlight of my day!
