Slug!
A most bizarre looking slug that we saw at Alex’s bus stop this morning:

At least bizarre to us transplants! On our walk at the local park, we saw a dizzying number of huge slugs on the pathway. Odd. Then again… transplants, that’s us.

On her way to her first day at her new high school:

We were waiting in the long, car drop off line (still on the road waiting to turn INTO the school) in the rain. Luckily, it was the actual first day of school for this year and being a new building with a lot more students than it’s previous incarnation, it was like there were a lot of new students. She had a great day while at school.
The 5:30 a.m. view from our balcony one morning. I guess it’s a perk of being on the top floor (3rd, that is).

We visited a nice park nearby and were fortunate to catch the gorgeous sunset over the lake.
Today I took Phoebe to get her ears pierced! It is part of her birthday present from us. She has wanted them done for a few years, but this was the year.
She grinned from ear to ear pretty much the entire time we were at the place.
She didn’t cry. She didn’t wiggle. She didn’t roll around on the floor writhing in pain. She merely said, “Ow!” quietly, almost as an afterthought.
Afterwards, we met up with Ray and had lunch. Phoebe was still grinning about it. She didn’t even argue when I said that she was getting the plain little balls for her first earrings. Even after they showed her all the fancy, pretty little ones that were colorful or sparkly. I did promise that she could get something prettier or sparkly (or both) for her second pair when she’s allowed to change them.
