TGIF TGIF!

It’s a normal Friday here. Either school or work for everyone. Alex has theatre rehearsal, but other than that, the big deal is that the weekend starts this evening! Yay!

Snow Day!

The girls did indeed get their snow day today. While it wasn’t the snowfall totals that were being bantered about in the forecasts, the school did make the call around 10:00 pm last night.  That in itself was awesome to be able to shut off all the alarms. Ray, however, did go in to work.

Both girls slept in very late despite not staying up really late. When they did get up, they began watching Prince Caspian together and had lunch. It was so relaxing and peaceful and I figured that I would at least take Phoebe out to play in the snow after…

…then I remembered…

…just because the schools are closed, does NOT mean that the dance studio would be closed. After all, their classes are later in the day–well after plows and salt trucks have been working.

So, right after Prince Caspian was over, we had to take Alex to her lyrical class. There was only one other girl that showed up to her class (the other class was very diminished as well).  All was going well. In fact, it was almost like a semi-private lesson! That is, until Alex rolled her ankle over and went down at the end of class.

Nice.

After being home a while, icing her ankle, she went to theatre rehearsal with an ankle brace on (thankfully I had one lying around). There was only minor swelling and no bruising thank goodness. The next few days will really show though. At least the girls don’t have school tomorrow and Alex can rest her ankle a bit.

Phoebe did get to play in the snow for a little bit while Ray plowed the driveway (mostly) when he got home. I really wanted snow day photos, but did not end up with any this time.

Monday, Monday

Kind of a typical Monday.

The girls both went to school as usual.

Our internet went down. It turned out that the power supply that runs the antennae and whatever else died (not the mention the cord was kind of almost broken). So, I took the power supply cord thing and some other things out to Ray. He was successfully able to come up with an alternative and our internet was restored this evening.

I ran a couple of errands while I was out. Nothing exciting.

Phoebe had ballet class. Alex came with us since she had to get to rehearsal straight from Phoebe’s class. It was the only way if she wanted to have a chance of being on time. Success!

That was it. We have a winter storm approaching. It’s supposed to get started tomorrow morning and we’ll be under a winter storm warning until Wednesday morning. I’m actually looking forward to getting some decent snow fall. It’s been rather lacking this year.

A Date?

Ray and I were supposed to meet up with some friends for an evening out, but at the last minute one of them got sick (icky sick!) so they had to cancel.

Instead of staying in though, Ray suggested that we still go out, just not with anyone else. Really? Like a date?

We went out and saw Sherlock Holmes at the movie theater. Nothing else, but it was awesome. The movie was fantastic and I am having difficulty in remembering when the last time was that we went to a movie without any kids. Serious difficulty in that…

It was a very nice evening, just the two of us, for a while…

Slow. Quiet. Uneventful.

February 05, 2010 By: Kini Category: Husband, Kids, Misc. Comments Off

Today did not seem incredibly eventful. It was a slow, quiet and uneventful day.

I felt kind of tired and sluggish for much of the day, then the headache set it. Like an idiot, I waited far too long to take anything for it, so it took a long, long time for the medications to be effective. Even now, they are barely winning the fight.

It as kind of a normal-ish day. The girls both had school. Neither missed the bus. Ray went to work.

Alex had theatre rehearsal. Tonight was a dance night where they would begin working on the dance for “76 Trombones.” Phoebe fell asleep and pretty much slept the entire way there and back. Fortunately, Ray went and picked Alex up so I didn’t have to this time.

Like I mentioned: uneventful.

It’s a Whirlwind!

Tonight was busy! It really was a whirlwind of activity.

I think I probably ought to start picking Phoebe up from school on Thursdays or something. Poor child is only home for fifteen minutes via the bus before we have to leave. If I picked her up, she’d have a whole forty-five minutes.

We start with taking Alex to her theatre class. It’s a forty minute class and typically Phoebe and I just return home and Ray picks Alex up at the appointed time. Tonight, he was busy at work and it is completely not worthwhile to travel all the way home to spend five or ten minutes there. So, we went to the dinky little library near the studio. Phoebe had a good time. They had some Degus creatures (named Amelia and Bedelia — cute) that she liked watching. She also found some books (all about TinkerBell and her friends) that we checked out. I also found a few things that I got as well.

Next, we pick Alex up and head over to where Phoebe’s Girl Scout meeting was taking place and dropped her off there.

Next, I take Alex over to her Music Man rehearsal.

Right about now I had about thirty-five minutes with nothing to do. So, I stopped in at a different library! I found a few things there as well (this one is much bigger and has a bigger collection, but is also much busier).

Then, I head over to pick Phoebe up then we head over to pick Alex up from rehearsal. We were nearly home when Alex’s phone calls me. She had left it at rehearsal… so…. all the way back to get it, but found out some great information about a show Phoebe is going to audition for next month, then finally, we arrive at home.

At least every Thursday won’t be like this. Girl Scout meetings are sporadic, at best, but, always on Thursdays. Theatre class is a constant that never changes. Rehearsals will vary from week to week, but will end once the show runs at the beginning of May.

I’d love a glass of wine about now though.
