Finally A School Day!

Yippee!!

Both girls did indeed have school today!

Apparently, one of the local media outlets accidentally announced their school as closed! I honestly do not know how that happened or how it turned out. I always double check. My alarm is set to play the local radio station. When it goes off, I lie there and listen for a while. I am sure it drives Ray crazy, but that is what I do. (He snoozes his heart-stopping alarm a zillion times, so we’re even!) Once I hear that our school is closed, I check the school’s website. Now that they post things like that! After confirmation, I wake Alex up and say to her, “I’m waking you up to tell you that you can go back to sleep because school is canceled.” Honestly. Those exact words. Every time. Cracks me up!

After I picked up Phoebe from school, we went home, had lunch, and then made peanut butter cookies. Later, we went and picked Alex up from school (she had an extracurricular thing going on) then stopped by the grocery store. Then, we went home, I made dinner, Ray came home and we finally watched Batman Begins. A movie which we had borrowed from our cousins ages ago. (Sorry! We’ll bring it by this weekend when we see you!) I will say that we really liked it and didn’t think it was nearly as “dark” as all the hype made it out to be. (Then again, we heckled a lot in the beginning making Qui-Gon comments whenever Liam Neeson came on screen.)

The weather forecast says we are supposed get a bit more snow. Great. Hopefully, it will not really happen, or it will indeed be light. Alex and I will be leaving early as she is taking the ACT for the first time tomorrow. Join me in wishing her luck: GOOD LUCK ALEX!!

Bagel Spindle

Even though I do not eat bagel sandwiches anymore, this was just too utterly cool to pass by….

Look out! We have sushi!

We finally have a sushi bar nearby! And, by “nearby,” I do mean it is still a thirty minute trip away.

Guess where we went for dinner! Bet you can’t! Yes, we went to the new sushi place. It was really REALLY good. Keeping in mind that I am not the most adventurous of eaters…both Ray and Alex really liked it. They have kids meals…not on the menu though…which was a bento box. Phoebe got Teriyaki chicken, tempura veggies & shrimp and rice. Ray ordered a bunch of stuff (way too much, actually). Alex will try most everything and does actually like most of it. Me? I have yet to try anything with the slab of raw stuff on top of a small mound of rice. I stuck with the rolls. California rolls mostly though I did have two pieces of a dragon roll. Tempura veggies & shrimp and gyoza appetizers, salad and miso soup too. Dessert (yes, we did!) was tempura bananas with vanilla ice cream (sadly, they were out of green tea ice cream — our favorite) on a platter large enough for the four of us to share.

Verdict? Definitely a double-thumbs-up place!
