Lazy & Engrossed

January 31, 2010 By: Kini Category: Family Events, House, Husband, Kids, Misc., Photos Comments Off

Today was a lazy, lounging around kind of day. We had started watching the first season of Stargate Universe last night. I got really tired and went to bed while Ray and Alex watched three more episodes! So, today, I caught back up and then we watched the remaining three episodes. Basically, not a lot got done.

Just before dinnertime, Phoebe was completely engrossed (and in the dark) in drawing a picture on her DSi:

Tomorrow will have to be more productive. After all, it cannot be less. Can it?

A Roller Coaster Ride & Games…

Alex had done auditions starting Friday last week for a production of The Music Man.

Well, late last night they had posted the cast list on the website (it was due by Sunday at 5:00 pm) a bit early. It was such a heart breaker that Alex did not make it in. She had resigned herself to auditioning for the Cinderella Kids show they are doing next.

Early this morning, I got a phone call from a number I didn’t recognize, but it was on my cell so I answered it. It was the producer for The Music Man. Apparently, there were some errors and Alex did fantastically and was DEFINITELY in! According to her, she was one of the first people they cast in the show even. I guess the director was so eager to get the list out, it didn’t get proofed and there were a few other errors. It took all day today, but the correct list is now up!

So, yay! Alex made it in! Not for the role she actually wanted, but in the teen chorus. It was more a matter of aesthetics though. She is quite tall and with 20+ girls auditioning for that one role and only 5 for the boy (her “boyfriend”), it wasn’t likely that she’d get it just based on that.

This evening we spent some time playing a game as a family: Disney Trivia. We had gotten this particular game in 1997, so it didn’t have much in it that Phoebe has apparently seen. It was fun and funny and a good time. After we finally started watching Stargate Universe. It’s been waiting for us on our DVR since it premiered.

Today started as a bit of an overnight roller coaster, but ended on a good note!

Doing Better!

January 29, 2010 By: Kini Category: Kids Comments Off

I kept Phoebe home from school today. Not so much because of her being sick or having had those fevers, but moreso since there is a vomit bug running rampage through her school (she had a huge number of kids missing from her class from it). I had no intention of sending her back to school for Friday, and then spending the weekend with vomit.

Today was nice though, since she was feeling much better and was much more even keeled all day rather than this huge swing between tired and whiny and bouncing of the ceilings (without any meds even)! There was no whining, she had focus and patience. It was a great day for her.

Day 4…

January 28, 2010 By: Kini Category: Kids, Misc., School Comments Off

Today makes Phoebe’s fourth day she’s missed THIS MONTH from school due to being sick. Her fever was just shy of 102 this morning.

Just like yesterday, her fever just disappeared in the afternoon only to return in the evening. No, I did not give her any fever-reducer or pain-reliever until this evening when her head was hurting (and she asked for it). Bizarre. She has a yucky sounding cough from time to time, but nothing bothering her a lot. *sigh*

Alex had her musical theatre class today that I had to take Phoebe with me to drop her off. Ray was able to pick her up, so that was nice to not have to stay or go back with Phoebe. We did miss Girl Scouts tonight since she’s sick.

I did one of those “idiot moment” things when I bent down to pick something up and happened to be too close to something that I banged my head on the corner of on the way back up. What made it worse was having had a headache bad enough that I felt nauseous. Great. I think it will be an early to bed night…

Should I even hope for a better day tomorrow or is that just a jinx?
