Basketball, Concerts, and More!

Not much happened at the beginning of the week. The girls both had full days of school. Alex had Science Olympiad event practices and her private alto sax lesson. Phoebe had her swimming classes and ballet.

On Thursday evening, Phoebe’s school had their second annual “showdown” with the other elementary school. A basketball game between the staff. As a member of the Parent-Teacher group, I, of course, volunteered to help out. The shift I signed up for was for the time before the game. As it turned out, I was there a little before the game started until after the game ended! I didn’t see much of the game, but I could see some of it from time to time from where I was (on the track that encircles the competition court). Phoebe was with me for a while, then spent a lot of the game sitting with her teacher, her teachers’ daughters and a few of her classmates and parents.

Honestly, I was so glad that Phoebe doesn’t have school on Fridays as it would have been really hard to get her up!

On Friday, Phoebe and I met our friends at a really cool gymnastic place that has “open bounce sessions” for the kids to play. I truly could not believe how fast an hour and a half flew by!

Friday evening, Ray and I met our cousins up at one of the “localish” bars to hang out and listen to a cover band. The cousins know one of the lead singers as her son and their son are in Boy Scouts together. Note to self: bring ear plugs next time!

Of course, I had to start feeling sick again. I started to have a sore throat on Thursday which was still there on Friday. I had a lot of drainage going on, so I naturally assumed that that was the culprit. However, last time I thought that, I ended up having the worst case of strep throat I have ever had in my life! Seriously! So, I was nervous, but Saturday it wasn’t any worse, and by Sunday the sore throat was gone.

Sadly, since I wasn’t feeling well, I bailed on my girlfriends on Saturday night (I slept most of the afternoon and early evening as driving Alex to the dentist and back wiped me out!). One of my friends makes Ukranian Easter Eggs… only one of the coolest things to make! She was having people come over who wanted to try it out and she was teaching how to do it. I really, REALLY wanted to go, but I just didn’t feel up to it. *sigh*

On the brighter side of things, my car now has a new set of tires and all of the brakes have been replaces (pads, that is) by my dearest husband on Saturday while I slept away the day.

The silver lining of being sick this weekend? That I will hopefully not be sick next weekend.

There will be zero time for that.

If it wasn’t for my friendly and wonderful swim instructor Christina. I think I wouldn’t have taken to swimming so much. I’ll be sure to send my kids to take up lessons with her. Where did you learn swimming anyhows?
