Playing, Interviews & Chats
Phoebe and I went to our Friday Playgroup meeting today. It ended up being at a certain fast-food type place with a large indoor playplace in it. I couldn’t believe how crowded it was at the time, but now that I think about it, there were several school not in session today AND the weather was rainy and chilly out.
We ended up being there for about three hours. Which was fine. After about an hour and a half, the place was finally starting to thin out. Not that our kids cared, they were more than happy to have lots of kids to run around and play with while we Moms just chatted and such. I love going to our playgroup because I have made a lot of friends through it. Otherwise, I’d just be home and lonely still, or working and lonely, or whatever and lonely. Don’t get me wrong, the family keeps me company and is stimulating, but face it, we girls need our girls! I’ve never been one to make friends easily (and retain them!), so this is one of the better things about my life now than when I was younger.
Alex got home from school before Phoebe and I did. It was fine and she worked on some of her homework (or so she tells me…we’ll see…) and watched television. She’s obsessed with FUSE.
Anyhow, when ray got home, he spent a good deal of time setting the computer up to chat online AND get it to record it. Alex needs to interview someone for an ELA project at school and she chose to interview her uncle Rob (Ray’s brother) who is currently serving in Iraq. The “recording the conversation” in a usable way was the time consuming part. I’ve done video chats with friends before (Phoebe gets a really big kick out of talking through the computer to her friends), but it was using AIM or Jabber’s video chat, not Skype or with recording it. Anyhow, it’s all set to go now…
When all the techno-hoopla was over, we all got together and watched Star Wars: The Clone Wars finally. It was good. I didn’t know what to expect though. Then it was off to bed for everyone! After all, we have to get up early on Saturday morning to get online for that interview chat at 9:00 am (it will be 5:00 pm there)!
Yay! The weekend is here! Now, if it could just last a little longer than two days….
