School is Coming!
We had a lot of “school stuff” to do today.
Alex got her schedule for her classes. She already knew what and when three of them would be. Two classes have just one section, so those were a given. The third only had two sections offered, but one conflicted with band, so that one was obvious too. She ended up with the same science teacher again (and band, but that’s expected). She got one teacher that she had wanted (but had changed her mind recently) and another that she really knows nothing about.
Normally, she’d get her locker assignment at this time also, but since they realigned the grades and moved the sixth graders into the junior high, there is now a locker shortage. By EIGHTY lockers!!! Talk about an oversight.
After Alex’s foray at her school, we headed over to Phoebe’s school. It was the before school open house where the kids and families can meet the teacher and explore the building. It was a great time to run into friends from preschool and catch up. Phoebe’s teacher seems like a lovely lady. Friendly, spunky, and excited. Apparently, she was part of the layoffs, but was brought back for this fall. So she went from teaching algebra and biology classes at the high school to teaching kindergarten!
Next week, while Alex has a full day of school and basketball practice begins, Phoebe will have an orientation (parents required) for two hours. Her first full day will be the next day. She is beyond excited. At least for now.
Later on, we got the phone call from Phoebe’s soccer coach. She has the same one as last fall and we are all very excited about it! (He’s an elementary gym teacher that Alex had at one point in time.) Phoebe was hoping that she’d get to be on the same team as the coach’s daughter. Yay!
Dryer update: after discovering the schematic, and bringing home a meter from work, Ray believes it is the non-resettable thermal fuse that is bad. I guess it’s a step in the right direction. He’s going to try and pick up a new one tomorrow. Hopefully, it isn’t something more than that.
