Pool Woes

Published by at 10:16 AM under Pool

Yesterday was supposed to be a yard work day. Ray is still working on that tree that fell (and all the junk that goes along with it). I was going to mow the lawn and weed the garden.

I decided to add some shock to the pool before I started working so that it would be all ready when we were done. I added it, then noticed. The water level (despite all the rain this last week) had fallen so low that there was barely any water getting into the skimmer (and therefore the pump). The hose between the filter and pump had cracked and was streaming water out! Ugh.

The girls and I ran into town for a new hose, but we still had to top the pool off with the well water. This ALWAYS means that we need to do the muriatic acid treatment, but I didn’t think about that while in town so I didn’t get any…within hours, the pool got cloudy.  That is where is sits still. Cloudy, chlorinated, and circulating.

Later today, some acid will be picked up, probably by Ray, so that we can re-balance the pool and clear the water.

The joys (and expense) of pool ownership.

We had a clean pool, and a little boy who decided to crank up the pool heater up to 95. Ugh. It was too hot to be enjoyable and I’m shuddering to think what the bill will be. More pool woes.
