Music Lessons
Alex’s had her first summertime sax lesson today.
Her instructor is a very nice retired gentleman that the school found a few months ago. I was astonished that not only would he continue into the summertime, but that he went to his students homes! Especially with the gas prices these days and he’s charging the same as during school!
The lesson went really well. They were in the living room and when the storm passed by this afternoon, Alex said the lights flickered a few times. Phoebe and I hung out in the kitchen, but didn’t notice lights flickering, only that we lost internet connectivity for a while. Phoebe mostly listened to Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus on her CD player which was nice since she didn’t go and try to “watch” the lesson.
By the way, it is really, REALLY nice when your kids can play instruments well and they don’t sound like fingernails on a chalkboard (or some other equally icky sound!)!!!!

We started violin and cello lessons a few weeks ago. I am eagerly awaiting the day when they stop sounding like dying cats. The cello is coming along nicely. The violin, not so much…

Yep. My daughter is playing the piano so well now that I actually ask her to play while I’m making dinner so I can hear her. There are some real positive things to these girls getting older. The down side is of course that youngest daughter doesn’t play quite so well. :)….yet.
