Pretend Birthday
Phoebe has this cute little thing about her in that she calls any birthday celebration that is NOT on your real, actual birthday, a “pretend birthday.” She’s already had one “pretend birthday” at school when they celebrated the summer birthdays.
Today, we had her pretend birthday party. The one in which her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins come over to eat food and cake and celebrate her pending birthday.
She had a wonderful time. She received many wonderful gifts from her loving relatives (ours will be given to her on her actual birthday, as to not disappoint). Her cake was chocolate with a whipped icing. The topper was the top from a Tinkerbell bubble bath bottle that we found and thought would be perfect for this. Completing the cake, was FIVE candles. FIVE!

After to frenzy of presents, cake, and ice cream, Phoebe and her little cousin played. The bigger kids played The Game of Life (which can be a seemingly endless game). Finally, it was pool time. I don’t even know how long they were in the pool. Alex got a sunburn, but Phoebe did not.
It was sometime near 8:00 pm (maybe later?) that the last people left to go home. Phoebe was so relaxed and happy after the pool. Everyone was, really.
A lovely day had by all and with absolutely gorgeous weather!
