Monday
Alex woke up this morning rather sore. Sunburn will do that to you. All the burn sprays, lotions, gels, whatevers, will not really change that. However, off to school she went. She has softball practice with Team Orange later today.
Phoebe went off to preschool. I stopped at the grocery store and got to her school a few minutes late to pick her up. Oops. It’s all good though. We went hope, put the groceries away, had lunch, and went outside. We walked around picking up more big sticks (we’ve got a good pile going for our next bonfire!) and played a little. I got the mower out (with the masher on behind it) and started mowing the back forty (ok, it’s not really forty) until a cable that had gotten in the grass got caught up in the mower blade. Oops. Damn it. Back to the barn the mower goes (it’s a lawn tractor, really). Double damn.
Later on, Alex got home from riding the bus, had something to eat, put on more burn relief and got ready for softball, while Phoebe gathered her soccer stuff.
We drove out to the other team’s practice place and stayed for a little bit. Phoebe and I then left to get her back to “our” town for soccer. Meanwhile, Ray left work to go fetch Alex and then run another errand on the way home.
Soccer turned out to be an awesome game for the kids. The best one they have had yet. They actually were exhibiting teamwork! Four-year-olds! It was such a blissful sight. Phoebe did fabulous. She played a forward for one quarter and a defender for another. They actually had all ten kids there, so each kid played two quarters. (Yes, peewee soccer IS equal playing time.)

During the quarter she played forward, the ball rarely left her square! She was running to get the ball, take it back to the goal, most were stopped by the goalie and thrown back, and it started over…. over and over for nearly the entire eight minutes of that quarter! Awesome job, Phoebe!
Once, back home, we made taco salad for dinner. Alex’s sunburn was still painful (duh! And you wore a tank top to softball AGAIN?), but she at least used a ton of sunscreen today.
I’m tired.

No sun here. Just rain. If I’m lucky we may not have snow! :) I need to move south.
Great photo of Phoebe! She looks so sweet. Oh, and please share your taco salad recipe. I used to make a great one, now I have no idea how to….
