Softball and Sun
Today was a bit less busy.
Alex’s softball team (Team Purple) had a scrimmage as part of the opening weekend festivities today.
The game started shortly after 1 pm and went about two hours. It was a beautiful, sunny day, with a nice breeze. Alex did pretty well during the game. The team did alright as a whole, but they have a lot of work to do to get those basic skills down and work as an actual team all the time. (Seems like a theme this weekend!) Alex played catcher, left field, third base, and three more innings as catcher. She really wants to pitch though, but I keep telling her that if the coach doesn’t know that she can pitch, why would he put her as pitcher?

When we returned home after the game, I started to mow the lawn (it looks so much better now) and Ray tilled the garden (but made it a lot smaller this year).
Later, we found out (rather Alex found out) why it is you shouldn’t ignore your Mom. Especially when she tells you to put sunscreen on. Someone found out, painfully, why that is the case. Ding-dong!
However, the odd part is that I did put sunscreen on Phoebe. Okay, so not the whole of her exposed flesh, but on her face (cheeks, nose, forehead, ears, neck). Where did she burn at all? Her cheeks! I, of course, had sunscreen on, and a hat, and still burned. Ray burned a bit at the field, but I think most of his was while working on the garden (without sunscreen).
Live and learn. That’s what you hope for. Alex will never ignore my sunscreen reminders again.
At least this summer.
