Today was the start of the last tournament for this season. Alex has been playing on an AAU team this year. Tryouts were held back in November and she (and the team) has been practicing since.

Due to some middle school/junior high seasons being switched to align with the new high school schedules, and some season not, the girls started their competitive season much later than anticipated. This team has girls from several school districts and, as it turns out, several athletic conferences. One made the switch right away, the others did not.

At any rate, today marked the beginning of the end. Sounds ominous, doesn’t it? The girls all played very well. It is hard for a new team to play against teams that have been together for a long time. We just don’t have that rhythm and  teamwork that the established teams have. We’re getting there. The girls were so much better today than at the start of the season. Next year, they will get even better.

Next year probably won’t come soon enough.
