The Things They Say
This evening, Phoebe and I were sitting in the living room when she decided that she needed her fingernails painted. She spent what felt like forever picking through our colors and finally deciding on two that she wanted alternating along her fingers. The colors are actually so similar that it isn’t really noticeable until pointed out.
Once the fingers were done, of course, the toes came next. She picked out yet a different shade of pink.
She sat on the edge of the sofa, swinging her feet while she waited for the “speed dry” polish to dry. Suddenly she jumped up, looked at me, and in a decidedly older, matter-of-fact tone said to me, “You are totally freaking me out. I am so out of here.” At that, she marched out of the room.
Huh?
Four-and-a-half year olds say the darnedest things, don’t they?!? Especially, when they have a sister on the cusp of teenagerdom.
