Roller Skating
Yesterday, I took Phoebe to the roller rink despite my late 1970s and early 1980s flashbacks.
This was the first time that she has ever been on roller skates (not even rollerblades or ice skates)! This was strictly a preschool skate session which meant that little kids skated, rode scooters, pushed push toys, while moms or dads helped, watched, or pushed strollers around the rink. Yes, there were a few adults that skated, but not many.
I got a pair of rollerblades and tried them out. Not terribly successfully though. (They hurt my foot something fierce making me wonder if I should try them with my orthotics next time.)
Phoebe donned a pair of roller skates. (They kind with four wheels and a stopper at the toe…just in case you don’t know!) She did remarkably well for a first timer. I was very impressed.

She did fall a few times, always giggling and quickly chirping, “I’m okay!” as she was getting back up. She even went out during the hokey pokey and did it. On skates! That’s my girl!

Of course, she had to check out the games in the “arcade” area.

She was sad that we had to leave, but we were literally one of the last people in the place. They were turning the lights off on us!
We’ll definitely be going again. Maybe, probably, next week!

Yay, I remember roller skating and I still thinks it’s fun. But, the kids think roller blading is easier. Either way, you’ll see me on my butt, maybe, probably, next week ;o)
Phoebe really looks like she enjoyed herself! I’ve only been on roller skates once and that was enough. Not coordinated enough. :D
