Recent (Music) Obsession

It is no secret that Alex’s taste in music is much different than mine. Or is it?

Honestly, I think that at her age, I was interested in much of the same type. It’s just that now that I am a “Mom” and trying to be all responsible, I tended to only listen to the “nice” stuff. The Adult, Easy Listening, Soft Rock, whatever you want to call it. Basically, the stuff that is clean enough for little ears without being all remade and bleeped or certain words changed.

One of the bands that Alex likes is Finger Eleven. Their song, Paralyzer, is quite the popular tune these days. Whose favorite song is it right now? Did you guess? Yes, that would be Phoebe. And, let me tell you, hearing a four and a half year old trying to sing that is both scary and funny. (I do like their sound!

Alex didn’t venture away from the world of Disney music and the like until she was ten years old or so. Phoebe, obviously, is venturing much (too much!) sooner thanks mostly to her sister.

When did your kids start listening to their “own” music? Or, have they yet?

And, have you experienced this: as soon as we get into the car, a child changes the radio to “their” station?! Yep, every single time.

So far I still have control foer the radio but I do listen to a station that plays stuff like Paralyzer and is clean so all the kids listen.

One of my fav. moments when my eldest was little was listening to her sing that Spears’ song that goes ‘I’m not so innocent’. I laughed because that was the only line she knew and because she was!

Don’t you just HATE making typos when you comment? I saw a blog some where that gave you fifteen minutes to edit comments when you left them. I want that! ‘Foer’ above should be ‘over’.
