Legos and Robots
Alex has been after Ray for a couple of years now to “coach” a team for the First Lego League Robotics competition.
The two of them have been working on the basics of robotics and electronics and controllers and the like to “educate” Alex so she has more than a clue to the whole thing. Ray (and I too) want her to understand why and how things work, not merely just accept that they do.
Today, they are attending a competition as spectators with the intention of actually forming a team and competing in the next coming “season.” I imagine they will come away with ideas of how to do some things and how not to do others. Ray used to be involved with a FIRST team before we moved here to the edge of the known universe. So, he has the first clues about teams, just not specifically to the Lego portion, or the actual administrative things involved.
Want to know more? Really? You can check it out at Ray’s blog.

I keep trying to get my kid’s school to do the lego robots thing and not just Destination Imagination. DI is such a massive commitment, where as legos is just a commitment. Sounds like tons of fun.
